Well, I convinced mom to cosign for the loan. I should probably find out Friday if we're approved. If I'm denied again, I spose I'll hit up my aunt or brother. Oi. Sucktackular. But if I'm approved, it will be fantastic. The prospect of actually getting an education is very exciting. I truly long to understand advanced math in particular. Having the resources and structures to facilitate that become availible to me is both daunting and exhilerating. But I get ahead of myself. I'm trying my damnedest not to get my hopes up. Hope only leads to disappointment. I've had that rug yanked out from under me far far FAR too many times to have not learned that. Just work for something better and accept what comes without expectation.

On another note, work is really starting to piss me off. I am SO sick and tired of working on shitty, inadequate computers. They just don't _get it_! "Well, these old windows 95 boxes have worked fine for 10 years! We don't need new ones!". Yeah, that _might_ be true if anyone there had ever actually, y'know, MAINTAINED them! PEOPLE! You can't just use your computer forever without applying energy to fight off entropy! GAH! And it certainly doesn't help that no one there actually understands what I do. The only things they can see are when there are problems. I'm pulling off fucking MIRACLES on a daily basis; getting ancient, unmaintained, complicated proprietary software packages to talk to eachother and the modern net. Our main server, the one that runs all of our e-commerce (which is 80% of our business), the one that stores all of our business data and runs our ERP software (that's "the software to run a factory" for those not in the trade) is WinNT with a _1 GIG_ system partition, and 12 gigs of data drive. My MP3 player has more storage! Today I tell the boss "We gotta reboot the server. We GOTTA. It's getting unstable." "Ok, we'll do it after 2:30." "Uh...ok. I spose." Three guesses as to whether that actaully happened. (Hint: NO. IT DIDN'T.)(UPDATE: I came in to work an hour early today and as soon as I walked in, my boss said "We gotta reboot the server! Right now!" Seems the ERP software died. "I hate to say I told ya so..." "Yeahhhh. I know. *sigh*" "Actually, I take that back. I kinda like saying I told ya so." "Yeahhh. I know..." Heh.) Shitty shitty computers all the way around. And tomorrow I get to try to do billing; which is just a fucking NIGHTMARE all around. To quote Matt and Trey: "GODDAMN WINDOWS 98! GET BILL GATES IN HEAH!"

I saw an ad in the Rockford Register Star today for a PC tech: must be experienced with XP and a Windows 2003 network. I think I got a dopey grin just thinking about working on a proper domain again. Needless to say, my resume is in the mail. If they pay the same or better as what I get now, I'm gone.

Oh, and I finally busted 400,000 points in GTA:SA! W00t!
